Lamborghini

The Lamborghini state is located in Umbria, between the southern side of Lake Trasimeno and the beautiful medieval village of Panicale.
We are on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, Cortona and the Val di Chiana are only a few dozen kilometres away.

The estate was bought by Ferruccio Lamborghini at the end of the 1960s, who, while travelling in this area, fell in love with the rugged and at the same time sweet landscape.

Having abandoned the famous automobile business, they decided to return to their origins: agriculture. The total surface area is 100 hectares, divided between a 9-hole golf course, a farmhouse and the 32-hectare wine-growing part.

Initially, several varieties of both red and white grapes were planted: in addition to the classic Sangiovese and Ciliegiolo, more unusual varieties for those years, such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, were also decided upon.

In the mid-1990s, Patrizia Lamborghini took over the management, continuing and, indeed, enhancing her father's ambition to produce high quality wines.

Since then, a large part of the vineyards have been replanted, favouring varieties such as Sangiovese and Merlot. To date, the new vineyards of selected clones extend over 20 hectares, but the company programme of the current ownership envisages the renewal of the entire vineyard area and the reintroduction of white grape varieties as the most immediate project.

The extreme search for quality, the desire to highlight the characteristics of the land and the valuable oenological guidance of Riccardo Cotarella have generated a radical change aimed at producing wines of the highest quality.
